Big koke
#1
Made another trip to the Berry last week it was a little slower than previous weeks but was still able to take home a limit of kokes.I didn't catch any rainbows but had a lot of cutthroat keeping me busy the whole time. I also caught my biggest kokanee ever. He was 25" long and just shy of 6lbs when i got him home on the scale, man did he put up a fight, well worth the trip I will be back soon.

That is a nice Koke. The state record is 25 " and 6lb even. I wonder if yours was 6lb 1 ounce at the lake?[Smile]

Sweet fish![Smile]

Wish that lake wasn't so darn big. We've tried numerous times, but could never locate any of the schools. Glad to see someones got it dialed in, and there are some healthy ones in there to be had.

Keep at it high n dry there are some nice fish in there this year there i have caught multiple 4 lb kokes this year. Once you catch one you can't get enough. I took my dad up there one day last week and he caught his first big koke close to 4 lbs and I have never seen him Smile so much, he can't stpp talking about it jumping out of the water and how much fun it was.

Wow nice catch it does look like an ocean run cousin. Had a blast catching fresh silvers once upon a time that looked a lot like that fish. Amazing you can do that at home and not have to travel to Alaska. Congrats. J

Can you catch kokes from the shore or do you have to be in a boat?

You probably could catch some kokes from the shore if you fished by a cliff or something where there was some deep water or a deep over hang. I think I would use a jig or something similar to ice fishing for them.
