Todd, thanks for your efforts. We had a great day of fishing without many fish. Also saw a lot of BETer at the event. Looking forward to next year.

Thanks for your support Lee. Fishing had definitely slowed down in the last couple weeks. I took Dr Klinger who is in charge of the veterans at the VA as well as Todd Russle from IM FLASH our key sponsor out after all the boats had been filled. We fished from about 9:30 to 12:30 and boated 3 very nice kokanee as well as 4 or 5 cutthroats. Dr K and Todd were both really excited to have a nice salmon meal to take home to enjoy with tier families.

How did you do Sat. eve. we only caught one koke and lost another, with some light hits. Walleye fishing was slow at Starvation with fish running between 12 and 14 inches.

I'm glad someone caught some Kokes. We ended up with 8 vets on the big boat and 2 others on my personal boat and I believe everyone aboard had a great time. We were honored to be involved.
It is apparent that this event took a lot of planning and hard work to pull it off. My congratulations to all of you that made it possible. It was quite an accomplishment. The big boat "freedoms dream" is now moored at the marina at Soldier creek for the rest of the season. Next week she will be out with the CAST for Kids event, another worthy event making this a better community to live in. Thank all of you at the DAV for all you do for our vets. Thanks Steve we really do appreciate you helping us. Without all of the boater volunteers we would not have an event.

We did pretty good. Friday evening after getting things set up I took out my board members for them to catch their dinner. This is a tradition I started with them a couple years ago as it's one of the few times they get to fish throughout the year. We've been lucky the last 3 years and haven't had to go hungry yet.
Friday evening we caught 10 kokes, releasing 3 as they were small in the 12 in range and 4 or 5 trout. Sat evening I took out one remaining board member and a volunteer that stayed. We boated 2 kokes, lost 2, and 4 trout. Sun morning I and a volunteer went out boated 3 kokes, lost 4 and boated 6 or 7 trout. Fishing has definitely slowed down for kokes but there were several boats that limited on kokes with their veterans. I didn't get the lowdown from them but they are obviously much better kokanee fisherman than I am. I am learning as I just started this year. [signature]

Can't beat eating fresh kokanee in the mountains, thanks again for all you do for the DAV's.
