These type of tournments have too big of a chance for those cheeters that I have seen and witnessed over the years to make a good derby they go up to strawberry and catch a rainbow bring it down and win its just not right all of us go out their fish our guts out and get beat by a fish thats over 24" its just not right maybe they need tomake the 1st prize for the biggest brown or on other derbys a fish that is only in thelake and no other close by just my thought

Unfortunately there is always that thought of cheaters that really go with every tournament. We have a retired game warden on team and we have fished these waters for many years and have a pretty good understanding of the type of fish in each reservoir. We will be able to examine the fish at any given time and we will have the ability to dispute a fish at any given time if we think its out of the norm. I appreciate your feedback 801SPRTSMN and hope that you will make it up there. It'll be a great time for friends and family!

How many spots are left?
What is the maximum # of participants you are going to accept? Why would you limit it?

We have 19 spots left. The number of participants is 125. We asked quite a few people before we posted for the Derby how many people they would like to see in the Derby. 125 was the most common answer. Hope to see you up there Gemcityslayer!

So you'll raise 6,250$ from all 125 registered.
Give out 2,850$ in prize money....
Your sponsor is giving away some stuff...
What happens to the 3,400$ leftover from the applicants?

We will also be putting back into the raffe for even more prizes and once you figure inall of the factors of the overhead ccost, the permit and application fees, the required insurance amount you are required to have. It sure doesn't leave a lot left over. We are looking forward to a great event and excited to meet everyone up there.[reply][/reply]

Charleston has a little ice, but the rest of the lake is open water. Not a good year for ice. I suspect the ice at Charleston is unsafe, so I would think the derby is a no go.

Hey Guys! Derby is on for tomorrow! I'm headed up now to get the current lake conditions. If there is no safe ice then it will be an open water even from the shore. Look for the conditions update on my website - finsandfurguiding. The update will be posted about 2 pm. Good luck to all of you in the derby and look forward to seeing you at the check in!

just have to say if there is ice great ! if not and shore is all i can do i am still going to be there ! my thought is a contest is about changing to what is around you. so change and make it happen' fishing up there has been slow and temps have ben 10 to 14 degrees in the morning so dress warm and get your kids dressed warm so they will have fun. and remember any day fishing beats anyday working!!!!! goodluck guys
