[#800000]This time of year it is difficult to decide between going to Strawberry for those plentiful big fall cutthroat and rainbows or to Bear Lake for the annual whitefish run. Flipped a coin and landed Strawberry side up.[/#800000]

[#800000]I, and my friend Dave O., left home at 4:00 AM, launched at 6:45 with no one in the parking lot but us. The west side of the ramp was totally bare and dry. The breeze/wind was blowing about 15 mph and pretty much stayed that way all day (stronger at times). Both the water surface and ambient air temperatures were 37°. We wore our winter coats and hoodies all day.[/#800000]

[#800000]We fished the Renegade area all day. We only boated 28 fish. All but one rainbow were slot cuts and all came in on standard fare white tubes and chub.[/#800000]
[#800000] [/#800000]
[#800000]From the weather reports I read on-line, it was looking to be a very calm warm day … NOT![/#800000]
[#800000] [/#800000]
[#800000]By the way, all of the docks are out of the water now so the last person getting into the boat and the first person getting out has to climb in/out from the shore bank.[/#800000] [#800000] [/#800000]

[#0000bf][#800000]That may very well have been my last boat trip to the Berry this year. But then, with these funky weather patterns lately, you never know. Next weekend I, and a few good friends, will be fishing the Bear Lake whitefish side of the coin flip.[/#800000][/#0000bf]
