We thought we should go hit the early ice like some of the others and made our way up just before 8am. There were quite a few people out there, must all have ice fishing fever too. Most the last was capped but still most people were at the dam arm. The ice was about that 4 inch mark and as the day went on the water came up just a little through the hole making it look thinner and a tad scary. Looked like it got a bit slushy the day before with some of the footprints, but it was all hard while we were there.

On to the fishing. I caught the 1st one right off the bat and it was the biggest of the day at about 15in. The catching would come and go, throughout the day, but we slammed them. My dad and I were seeing would would get the most, and he was way ahead of me for a while. I passed him up about noon and I ended the day with 46 and him with 40. The other 2 guys caught about 35 between them. We used tubes in many colors tipped with crawlers and waxies. It didn't seem to matter, but some holes were just at the right spot. It was a great day, but sometimes I would rather just catch some big fish. Good way to start the season off!

Thanks for the pics and the report. I need to spend some time up there later this month. Right now I am focusing on a vacation here in a week and a half.
