I have a 6 inch nils i just purchased and it was missing the wingnut that connects the handle to the shaft of the auger, the place i bought it at doesent have any extras.
Does anybody know if thats a specialized wingnut made for that auger only or would i be able to connect a standard one from a hardware store.
Any info would be appreciated

You should be able to just use a standard wing nut from a hardware store.

I think the only problem would be finding a wing nut that big. But, like you said they should have something.

Jazzperch,
Do yourself a favor and avoid HD.
Do you live near Riverton by any chance?
True Value on Redwood and about 12700 s. has a killer selection of hardware.
If clearances allow, might I suggest one of their oversized wingnuts similiar to the nuts found on adjustable mower/snowblower handles?
Good luck, Shane

I had to replace the wingnut on my Mora auger and fishtec had them in stock, on the shelf. I would bet they have some other brands too.
