With the warm weather how has the ice held up around the dam at Schofield? Anyone been up or going up today?

I am trying to make a trip up there Saturday, any info on how people will think the ice will be then around the dam would be appreciated.

Scofield ice is getting worse by the day with the high of 40's for the 2 week in a row. Ice by the dam area is still 3-4" of ice but is letting thinner by the day. By the main lake at the dam is open water now pass the buoy. The edges are getting a little weaker and opening up a little bit. All I can say make sure you got ice cleats, ice picks, long rope, and a buddy with you.
Best place for safe ice is south west or the north side. Don't adventure out too far because you will start finding the 1" of snow, 1" of water, and 3-4" of ice. [signature]

i fished Friday and Saturday at the Madison bay ramp. i stayed on the ice over night and ice stayed 4-6 inches the hole time and the ice wasn't melting away from the boat ramp. fishing was fast for cutthroats and chub. if your in 10+ feet of water the chubs are thick thick its like catching perch. caught one 16" chub the rest were 8-12 inches in total i caught about 200 chubs and 100 cutthroats.

That should help with the chub population! I am also trying to make a trip out there saturday. Hopefully the ice will hold up till then.

Anyone fished this in the last 2 days? Want to know if I will be somewhat safe going fishing tomorrow or whether I will be going swimming after all of this warm weather.

Me and few friends went this morning. We fished in 8-10'. We caught about 60 cutthroats and about 10 chubs using tube jigs tipped with a worm or chub meat. We fished the northeast side. The ice wasn't safe over by the dam. A lot of open water in the middle. Hopefully the weather will change or Scofield could open up!
