Rubber trout eggs?
#1
I went out on a whim and bought rubber trout eggs to try on spawning browns...it could fail miserably but it also might be the subtle ticket to some great fish. Anyone ever try this before?

Us fly fishermen use rubber and plastic beads for egg imitations and catch many trout. The key is the right size and color. Orangeish and 6ish mm is a good one.

Never tried them on browns or even really in streams.

They do okay for stocked rainbows and they're really easy to rig up. I just carolina rig them and float them up off the bottom in lakes. The ones I've used weren't as buoyant as powerbait by volume, so I had most success using short-shank size 10 hooks so they didn't drag it down. For that reason I only use them when I'm fishing to eat since they get gut hooked probably 75% of the time. In that scenario I usually start with powerbait and if the bite gets slow, sometimes switching to these guys makes it pick up again.

The theory is good, since that's what a lot of fish should be eating this time of year. Let us know how it goes!
