I have fished the Clearwater River a lot and have caught many B run Stealhead out of it. I would say that fish is a resident rainbow it is much to fat to have traveled back from the ocean 600 miles away crossing 8 dams along the way. The fact that it has an adipose fin does not exclude it from being a stealhead though. Wild stealhead have theirs intact and that is why by the rules it had to be returned to the river, only hatchery stealhead can be kept.

Looks like a pond fish not a river steelie. Not long and lean like most Steelies I've seen. Wonderful fish though. Imagine the fight that would put out in a river. Amazed he could land it on 6 lb test. Guess it was caught downstream so maybe they get fatter before they make the swim up stream. Later J
