[cool]Excellent report, tomegun. Nice save on that 4 pounder that almost took your setup! You didn't happen to get a picture of that fatty, did ya? Question, was the dirt road that goes to the left from the original entrance from the road all plowed, or did you have to walk a long ways to get to the water? I really like Jake's bay (C.K.W.)

Great report! Don't know what you do for a living but maybe you should have written adventure stories. I was getting ready to yell FUMBLE!!!! As your pole sunk through the ice but it was not to be. Nice save!!!!! Sometimes we have to sell out and take one for the team even if it means a little bump on your knee and a mouth full of snow! [crazy] Thanks for the entertainment tonight! I know whats its like being the only one on the lake. I was the only one at the marina on tuesday when it was 6 degree's. Got any pics of that pig sized bowcefus????

I hit Jakes Bay 3 times already this new year and the fish have been real active! until it hits noon time then everything slows down to nothin! But I've been catching them on just about everything I drop to them, I don't think their real picky this time of year wait another month then they'll be real finicky. But I've already caught more rainbows(keepers) than I did all last year ice fishin but I have also caught alot of cuts too.

I'm about 30 feet away from my rod when the strike indicator started bouncing. I drop my auger and started running(more slipping/sliding) towards my rod. It is sitting on my bucket and now its bending under the tug of the fish. The bucket falls and I dive. My knee slams into the ice. I reachout and grab the rod as it is going down the hole. A head first slide into 1st base, safe. The 4 pound 18 1/2" rainbow is out[cool]. And now, the Bowcefus(big rainbow) is dinner[ ![]() [/reply] This happens to Tommy a lot! He's a much better fisherman when his gear is unattended, whether it be on the ice OR on his boat. [laugh] Ask him, he'll tell ya it's true. Nice save Gun. I'd hate to hear that you've donated yet another item to the underwater gods. LOL. Sounds like it's time for me to get my gear together, eh? [cool] [signature]

[#000080]Sorry, no pics. I haven't bought a digital camera as of yet.[/#000080]
[#000080] Like HuntN4bass says, I catch fish very well at a distance from my gear[ ![]() [#000080] The gravel road(left turn) at Chicken Creek East(Jakes Bay is the same place) is plowed all the way to the no parking beyond this point sign.[/#000080] [#000080] ICE CONDITIONS: 2-6" of powder on top; 3-4" frozen ice; 1-2" of slush; and finally about 5" of ice. It was easier to walk on than New Years Day. Visibility sucked until 1pm.[/#000080] [#000080] [/#000080] [signature] |
