Green River - Moab
#1
Heading to Moab in a couple weeks to go to Arches along with some other things. Will be by myself and have plenty of free time. Wondering if anyone knows some good access points or areas that I could go fish the Green or Colorado? Would prefer to fly fish and target trout but I'm open to suggestions.... Never fished in that area but if I'm going down there I figure I might as well make a trip.

Thanks!

you are going to be hard pressed to target trout in the Green that low. you will have better luck with pike, smallies and carp how ever. right off the main highway there is a large access point with trails that go for a ways that you can hike and fish.

edit.. for the CO you are actually going to have to go way upstream as well, as in, well into CO to target trout as well. but like the green, it to has bass, pike, carp and cats.

As mention no trout in those rivers by Moab. Mill Creek above Ken's Lake is an easy place to catch some small cutts if you keep it simple. Medium sized dries and nymphs work this time of year. Avoid furled leader, present a single fly only and use some stealth or those spooky wild trout will seem impossible to catch. Ken's Lake is stocked with trout but I don't have a clue to the water level and if any trout are in there now.

Thanks for the suggestions!

After posting and researching online I realized I was likely chasing fish that didn't exist in that area Smile Maybe I'll switch game plans and try catching some bass out of Ken's Lake. Been a couple months since I've tossed some plastics.
