Anyone into building their own rods? Specifically an ice rod. I was thinking it would be a fun hobby and was thinking about starting with an ice rod. Any favorite blanks? Kits?

I built several dozen a year for laker fishing over the last 5 years. Short, "ice" length rods cut and built for 20-50 pound fish. They're pretty easy compared to the one or two fly rods I build each year. Yes, Mudhole.com is the place to start. A basic ice rod would be as simple as you get.

There's some guys on here who have more artistic rod-building talent than I'll ever have.
