Rockport report
#1
Hey people,

I fished rockport on Monday from 9 to 4 o'clock around one of the pulloffs before u get to the boat ramp. We first tried in 11 ft of water and caught like 5 fish. All were trout from 9 to 14 inches. Moved to 18 and 22 feet of water and caught a few more trout and 2 perch. The fishing wasn't spectacular by any means, but decent. Maybe I wasn't in the right spot or the full moon had and effect on fishing. We used various ice flies and jigs tipped with waxies and powerbait. Good luck everyone!

I wouldn't give up on it yet. When I fished shallow earlier this week I didn't get much either. The 30-35' depths seemed to work best for me.

Fished Rockport a couple times this week. Besides the cold temps, fishing was spotty. We caught trout closer to shore off apoint where the 12-18 ft contours were closer to gether and found some perch in the basin in deeper water as Shrimpboy suggested. Hooked the trout on various ice flies and jigs tipped with maggots and/or wax worms. Perch came on flasher/dropper rigs baited with maggots. We had to move around a bit to find perch. Once we did, the bite was fast for a while. This happened at about noon on both days. With the full moon, it makes me wonder if this was a lunar peak or just dumb luck. Maybe a combination of both!
