Seemed like a large expanse of solid ice from orem to lindon. Saw it on freeway yesterday. A strong north wind would break it up but UL doesn't get south winds much at all.

"but UL doesn't get south winds much at all"

[#0000FF]Shirley, you jest...even if your name ain't Shirley. Maybe you don't notice it as much when you are fishing along the southern shorelines. But if you were in a float tube at the Knolls...or at Lindon...you would have empirical knowledge of south winds on Utah Lake.

Actually, I have a theory that there is a wind generating machine in the middle of Utah Lake. And it is controlled by Mama Nature. No matter where you go and what direction you would prefer to have the wind it will be exactly the opposite. I have lost count of the number of trips I have planned based upon forecast wind speed and direction and then found conditions exactly the opposite.

The wind don't blow on Utah Lake. It sucks.

North wind always seems to rage throughout the entire lake when any little front hits. But you seem to have a very interesting theory on wind generation right at middle of the lake. From what I've seen from the shorelines hahaha, it seems that the north end of the lake from lehi to maybe lindon, AF ish gets hammered by south winds a good part of the time south winds occur such as before a cold front. However it seems from provo south, if south winds are raging at 20 to 40mph in slc, you get calm or 3mph winds from provo, south ,a good 85 percent or more of the time. It's just what I've observed at UL. Not saying UL as whole doesn't get wind but when from the south, parts of Utah county often is calm when other places are raging. I totally agree UL is divided into half wind wise. Weird. Kinda like at mantua, winds don't blow north to south as much but with a cold front you get NE wind. And then you get winds from due west upslope it seems. Different places are weirdly different.
