New guy
#1
Probably should introduce myself, been lurking around and responding here and there on the forum.

The name's Spencer Durrant. I'm one of them fly fishermen. I write the monthly "Trout Bum" column for the Standard-Examiner in Ogden, write for the Fish West blog, and other assorted outdoors publications.

Been fly fishing for years, but I've only become passably decent at it in the last year or so. Lots of good guys have helped me figure the sport out over the past year, definitely wouldn't be as in love with this thing without them.

Favorite place to fish is probably any of the rivers draining the south slope of the Uintas, Fairview canyon-lakes, and of course, the Fish Lake area and Boulder.

And I'm always looking for new fishing buddies - lots of mine are getting married or whatever these days, apparently that means they can't fish anymore. So if any of y'all ever wanna get out, don't be afraid to reach out.

Tight lines folks!

Welcome to the site Spencer. I'm not a fly fisherman, but there are quite a few here. They just may not have seen your post yet. Many of us have been following the lost fisherman at Willard Bay...... Again, welcome aboard

Welcome Spencer. Any relation to Jim Durrant (former Payson high school football coach)?

There is a tenuous relation there. I can't remember off the top of my head how we're related but I know we are. I grew up in Santaquin, actually. So I've been asked this all the time!

Thanks man!

I've only ever really fished for trout in my life. I have basically zero knowledge of warm water fishing, although back in my early days I threw jigs for trout before I became a fly fisherman.

It'd be great to learn a new skill, I'd love to try throwing flies off your boat. I'll definitely get in touch, thanks!!
