I'm still having trouble with identifying a web river cut. I go by vivid red gills, mouth hing behind the eye (larger mouth) dark rainbow color and rainbow spots with vivid red strip down the middle???? Please, please help. [.img]http://thegutpile.net/images/smilies/icon_cry.gif[/img] Is there a sure way? I've caught several as previously described and released. I hate not to release any that aren't since It's tough enough for an old guy to catch his dinner (old man card [.img]http://thegutpile.net/images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif[/img] ) Seriously - any specifics would help, even pics.
It can be tricky to tell. Here is my suggestion. Google images of Bonneville, Snake River, Colorado, and Bear River Cutthroat.... save as many pictures of each as you can and put them into labeled folders (on your computer). Looking through these will give you a better idea of what is what... it is tricky to tell sometimes.
All of them have specific traits that can help you identify them... Snake River cutts often have real pink gill plates w/ bright yellow on the gills too. And they are more yellow in general on the belly than the other 3 species of cutts.
