I had a feeling the string of warm days would have the bass biting.

I guess I was right.
(The first two are the same fish, I just got excited since it's my new personal best).

It really is. Going by the length and girth formula, it was estimated to be around 8lbs. She's back in there to make some babies, though I fear they may be doomed with the dry weather this year.

Awesome post man, Im green with envy (har har). Ive been overseas for a while and love to see fishing reports-cant wait to come home and spend some time in that area again! This time of year is so much fun. You may have a low quantity day, but if you can pattern them, the big girls come out to play.
Keep up the posts for your fishing-starved Cache Valley brethren.

It's definitely a fun area to fish. I hate when things like home improvements keep you from fishing. my job has been very busy, and it seems like when I finally would get a day off, it would be cold and nasty. For once the planets aligned and I got a day off on a beautiful sunny day that was several days into a warming spell. Water temp was 55-56°. I'm sure it's dropped a bit with all this colder weather though.

Your killing me, I was there a couple weeks ago and didn't even get a hit.. well I take that back I got one hit on a 3" cutt'r bug. And that was it. Moved into town at Gdale and got into a ton of planter trout. I used spinners last year at the place over from your old go to. And did very well on mid teen one was barely shy of 20 but no matter how I held the tape it wouldn't make twenty. Hope to meet you out there some day soon to chase some lips around..

It can be a fickle place, especially this time of year. It gave me my first skunk in years around this time last year. Still, I'm hoping to get up there soon. I'm not making it out as much as I used to with my new job, so I've only fished three times this year, and they were all in the past few weeks. Oddly enough, I still haven't caught any trout this year, they're usually what I fish for until the bass get going. I guess that's what happens when you get a late start. I may spend most of my year focusing on this place again since it has been so good to me and my time is limited. Well, I may find my way over to Oneida for some smallmouth too.
