Willard Skunk be GONE!!! finally

Went I decided to head to WB today it was already after 10 AM. But it looked so nice outside. Of course, just after I get on the water, the wind cranks up. But it was variable, and not to bad, so I pressed on. I did big S turns, and figure 8's and expanding circles all thru the areas that were reported as HOT last couple weeks. Getting near time I need to quit so headed south east towards Freeway Bay. After about 40 minutes running east at varied speeds, thought, OK, this is gonna be skunk # 6, and was just deciding to pull in my lines, and the outside pole wend BENDO, and the line screamed off the drag. Oh CRAP.....grab the reel, tighten the drag some, slap the motor into N, pull rod out of holder, get rod tip up, REEL like a mad man, BANG, there it is. That familiar head shake and head for south Salt Lake like a silver one-car Front Runner. BUT I got ya this time !! Good hook, into the net, drop her on the deck (I know it was a her, she was full of eggs when I filleted her at the house later).

Now the wind really gets fired up. OK, chased the Skunk out screaming and clawing, but out he went. Not gonna press my luck with the wind or that pesky little Peppy LaPew. Got all the lines in, and for once the wind was blowing in just the right direction. Got the bow headed into it, throttled up, and got up on top of perfectly spaced waves. Made it back to the south marina in time to be pulling out same time as WH2 and DogLover. I understand they had a good day too, much better than mine though.

With as many fish that have been pulled out of Willard the past two weeks I am surprised there are any left.[] Good on ya to catch one.
