camping at strawberry ????
I know that the pay spots aren't open until the end of may
but what about some of the other sights and are they accesable to trailers or motor homes?
have some time off and don't want to have to leave for a couple of days

I would think some of the wilderness camping around the reservoir would be available if the dirt roads are dry.

There is primitive camping along the west side of the reservoir. We've found some nice spots up Clyde canyon and Mud creek. These are dirt roads the head west from the highway.

I am not the expert; however, I did not think wilderness camping was legal south of Hwy 40, west of the east side road or east of the west side road (hope that's not confusing?).

Was up there on Friday and saw a camper just pulled off the side of the road headed to Aspen Grove. he was all set up and obviously camping...didn't look like the most peaceful spot in the world, but hay?

I fish strawberry at least 50 days a year I was wanting to know what the conditions were around the lake if it would be worth dragging the trailer up for a couple of days in stead of driving all that way for a few hours.
anyway thanks for responding

I saw that camper too. Haha. A skip and hop down the road was a DNR truck with no one in it.

I drove all the way to where the dirt road starts at the end of the Soldier Creek side last Friday. It is past the dam and past Aspen Grove. You will start climbing the mountain a little. I don't see why you cant camp there in the big clearing. It looked like it was made for that.

If you're looking to camp by the ladders just pull into the big camp spots in trout creek. There are plent of good spots just at the bottom of the trout creek road with very clost acess to the ladders and chicken creek.
