Is the Knolls area open? I haven't fished the area lately and I believe I read an article the there was a land access dispute due to people that just don't care about trashing the area and trespassing on the adjacent landowners property. It was a great area to fish. I wanted a quiet area to launch the tube and see if the kitties want to play.

[#0000FF]DWR has been productively negotiating with the land owners and county commissioners to come up with a liveable agreement to allow public access again. But every time an I needs to be dotted...or a T crossed...there are too many people and attorneys involved to make it happen quickly.
Plans are to have an improved parking and access area, a small launch ramp, sanitation facilities, etc. Not there yet.
Late last year the restrictions were relaxed and people were allowed to drive down and park in one area...but there are signs restricting vehicle access beyond that point. You can trudge a tube or toon down to launch but you have to wade out through shallow water a long ways...through sticky mud...before you can sit down and start kicking. And the water is already dropping this year so it does not look good for the near future.
I went down for a "test drive" last September, when the water level was about what it is now. I caught some cats but the workout through the mud was a killer. [/#0000FF] LOW TIDE AT THE RAMP.jpg

[#0000FF]That should mean that your butt is too.
A big part of my needing a bit deeper water is the electric motor. It takes about 18" to 2' of depth to keep from boinking the bottom. And coming back in I need about 2' of water to be able to get back up out of my tube. Not as strong or flexible as I used to was. With low water conditions and a very gradual depth change that all translates to slogging through yucky mud for a long ways before sitting down...and after getting back up on your feet.

Where is this one access point? Sounds like a good place for my clunky old homemade kayak, which laughs at shallow muddy water. The pic looked familiar, but not enough to know for sure.

[#0000FF]Your yak would probably be ideal. Attaching a modified parking map showing (in red) the only place we are currently allowed to park.
There has been some gravel placed on the old dirt rutted road. Now it is a gravelled rutted road. But there will be a lot more improvements once the agreement is finalized.
You should find willing kitties as soon as you get out into 3-4 feet of water. But I usually have my best success down off the rock point to the west. Should be some white bass moving in there by now as well...and some post spawn walleyes.
Good luck.

Hey TD, how much closer or further is this parking place for the knolls than Lindon harbor if you were heading down from slc?

[#0000FF]From my home (Taylorsville) I can make Lindon in less than 25 minutes. The Knolls is about 5-10 minutes longer...depending on time of day and traffic.
