Thanks for the report - with the warmer temps those winds are bringing in hopefully it'll only keep getting better.

Quail holds the biggest bass in the state. They get fed stocked trout.

What do quail creek and sand hollow look like on the weekends? I'd love to come down this weekend but I may be doing it alone and if the power squadron takes over on Saturday....I may look closer to home

Yep...Ironman this saturday, which I like because if you go after it, the lake is quite. Usually this time of year, Sand Hollow is a wake/surf boarding mess on the weekends starting at about 9am-6pm. Once the swimmers itch becomes really bad in mid summer, it dies down a little bit (which only increases the Quail Creek crowd). I have never met such a group of recreational boaters as those that frequent Southern UT waters...I mean, they are COMPLETELY oblivious to everyone around them. I literally had a wakeboard boat come within 20ft of me and my family fishing the dam last weekend and ended up filling my boat full of water. Made my kids cry...and when my kids cry, Daddy becomes very unhappy (and you wouldn't like me when I get unhappy). I had to lay the law down on them, and they were quick to venture off to the rest of the empty lake rather than blowing by us over and over. I know that will never change (you can't fix stupid), so I would avoid the SH on the weekends if at all possible. I prefer night fishing once the heat sets in...so nice and quite, and the bigger girls like to dance more! Smile

Funny you should complain about the wakeboarders doing that do you. Every time we fish the dam (shore fishing) and are catching fish, we have a fishing boat roll up on us. My wife got so mad at one of them that she intentionally casted into their line as they came screaming in and stopped that close. Its not just the "fun" boats that are the problem, fishing boats need to learn a little respect too.

It's far from funny, it's dangerous. Other fishermen I can handle....annoying, yes...but I've never had a fisherman zoom 20 ft from my boat over and over. The wake board crew is the problem. Plus, I don't care who's fishing around me, I'll catch fish. I always have people roll up to me and start fishing when they see me killing them and they still can't catch them like I am...takes more then a spot to catch fish IMO.

I agree with you that it takes some knowledge, skill, and a little luck to catch fish. My son caught 3 fish next to a boat that came up next to him about a week and a half ago in about 15 minutes while the boat caught nothing.

All Im saying is, its very disrespectful. Shore fisherman are limited as it is and for a boat to choose the 1 spot where shore fisherman are is ridiculous and uncalled for. There is fishing all around SH and with a boat, its nearly endless. BTW, this has happened to us the last 2 weekends that we have gone up within the last month. Pretty pathetic in reality (and we outfished the boats about 8:1).

While I agree that the fun boaters coming close can be dangerous, from my stand point Im pissed at the fishing boats as from my end they have less respect and care than the fun boats.
