[#0000FF]First year will be the most...because they charge a tax on the price you paid for your craft...not the motor. So you need a receipt or bill of sale. Then the rate for yearly has been about $38. But that will increase by $10 after July when the new surtax for quagga mussel inspections kicks in.
It is a good idea to take a picture of your craft with you. Some of the folks at the license offices are easily ![]() Also, be sure to call to get the locations of the offices that register watercraft. Not all of them do. [/#0000FF] [signature]

If you can prove that you paid sales tax on it then $38.

[#0000FF]Totally agree. Deerickulous. Especially having to pay the same amount as a big wakeboard battleship. Uhhh...you left out waders...and rods...and bait...and lures or flies. Surtax? Yes sir. [/#0000FF] [signature]

There is nowhere in that absolutely lame legislation that even remotely suggests the $10 fee will be used for inspections. What the bill said was this:[/#800000]
Quote:73-18-26. Aquatic invasive species fee -- Amount -- Deposition.[#800000]Un registered watercraft (any not using a motor) will not have to pay and watercraft registered in any other state and used in Utah will not have to pay. Absolutely, 100% pure BS. And the money will go into a boating account to be used for some as yet unnamed program for 'aquatic invasive species interdiction', whatever the Hell that is. Aaaarrrggh! The author of that bill had his entire head shoved well up his. . . .; well, you get the idea.[/#800000] [signature]

[#0000FF]Too arbitrary and vague for my old mind to wrap around. I gave up trying to decipher the bureaucratic buffoonery that masquerades as responsible legislation a long time ago.
[/#0000FF] [#0000FF][#800000]"The author of that bill had his entire head shoved well up his. . . .; well, you get the idea."[/#800000] I refer to such situations as the "brown ears" syndrome. Maybe not a prerequisite for getting into office but almost universally an acquired trait after settling in and setting up the walls around one's little empire. [/#0000FF] [signature] |
