Cutler was good to me
#1
Spent the day floating in the canoe yesterday down to the Cache Junction ramp. The day started perfect, but the wind came up several times. We stopped off a point and caught a few, with my son losing his big one, but I got two 25"ers there. We pressed on when the wind let up a little, and picked them up here and there. It seemed we had much better success when stopped than while moving. We only got two on the move, but one was my son's big fish of the day at 28". No scale, but it was massive. I couldn't get my hand around the top of it's head to pick it up.
In the last hour or two, we caught several fish, but none exceeded 21 as we approached the takeout.
It was great though, there were a bunch of jetskis by the takeout ramp, and well before we got there, they came by closer than 50 yards a few times so that we could appreciate how cool they were.
Met a gentleman who had just taken his boat off the lake and saw our fish. He wanted to know how to catch these bigger cats, and we only had 3 at or around 20". We had a good talk and he suggested we should consider entering a catfish contest online. I pointed out the logo my son was using for pictures with his fish. we had a pleasant visit, but he indicated he is not an active member here. Too bad, it is always nice to see how friends and acquaintances in the valley are doing even when we don't go together.

Nice fish! I know that area well.

I haven't caught a 28"er in a couple years now, I think the draw-down the last two years has hurt the fishing a bit, but it should recover.

As often as we fish the same pond I'm surprised we haven't met yet... One of these times we'll meet... Nice job pulling the first 28"er for the north, made our team score look a little better this week... Only down like 6 inches or so now...

Ya know each time I catch a 23"er or better I keep thinking how big they are and compared to the 27 and 28"ers they are dinky, so most folks will be pretty impressed with the average fish we catch in this contest and those big boys, well they are way impressive and it's hard to show very well in a picture.. Hope I can get onto a 30"er this year, but I'm a long ways off at this point... Good luck and thanks for helping the team... Later J
