Quote:The 750 lb limit is for personal-use trailers. If they are used for a business, they do need to be registered. This is for trailers in Utah. If the trailer is in another state, you would have to abide by their law on this. You can get your trailer weighed at a weigh station and keep a copy in the vehicle. Then it is up to law enforcement to make the final decision, based on what you show them. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact our Customer Service Department for further assistance from any of our phone representatives Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. at 801-297-7780 or 1-800-368-8824.

[#800000]Pay particular attention to the part about other states. If for instance Wyoming requires all trailers to be registered and have a plate (and I don’t know if they do), they could give you a ticket regardless of the fact that you don’t need to have it registered in Utah. I got that from a close LEO friend of mine this weekend.[/#800000]

[#800000]I personally pulled a legal, unlicensed trailer (in Utah) all the way to Texas and back and never got stopped or asked about it from any LEO. That leads me to believe that unlicensed trailers are not a high crime priority for most other state law enforcement organizations when the tow vehicle is licensed out of which ever sate you happen to be in at any given time.[/#800000]
