Having never been to Lake Powell, or fished it, I have no idea what to expect. Next week I am sending a scout down with his troop. Athough fishing is not the # 1 activity, my boy would like to fish a bit, most likely from shore.
They are launching from Bullfrog, but not sure where they are headed from there. Looking for some input on what type of fishing should be available, types of bait, etc.
Any info will be welcome.
Thanks for the help

I got this one guys. So he can buy anchovies at the boat rental dock. One bag should do him but he can always buy 2 to make sure. Any jigs. He can keep it simple single tail grubs. Tip it with half a crawler might put him in the walleye. Cat fish all he needs to do is set up his pole with a couple of egg sinkers. Put a 1" chunk of anchovy on try to find an area where it is sandy. Anchor his pole down and buy a bell. Then he can jig with the other pole. Cast out and hop it back to you on the jig. The one with the anchovy just wait till the bell rings reel it in and catch a cat fish. easy fish to learn how to fillet. Just start to fillet at back half of belly till the tail. You'll get a palm size piece of meat. Fry it up and have a Lake Powell Fish burger. The jig set up will catch large mouth, small mouth, blue gill, sun fish, sometimes cat fish. and striper. I don't fish with any line heavier than 6- 8 pounds. Have fun

So on the pole with the anchovey, it is sort of like a dinner bell.
