Lost Creek 6/19...
#1
Got a late start this morning as I was debating whether to go or not, I went. On the water about 0730, a little late as the top water action looked to be tapering off, I threw the fly rod from the toon with sinking line and a Tubedude hothead bugger in brown, caught a nice Cutt' a decent Bow' and a chub (didn't know they were in there) missed quite a few hits, marked lots of fish on the bottom, all fish were hugging the bottom at all depths from 50'-20'...the water temp was 66* so I can see why, I could not reach them with my sinking line, left the spinning rod and jigs at home, won't do that again! Water was very clear and mostly calm today, I fished the bay around the ramp.

Thanks for the report and pics. It looks like it was a great day to be on the water.

Lost Creek can drive you crazy with all the surface feeding and your not catching fish. Almost all of the fish that I have caught out of there have been down 15' - 25'. The chubs were one of the reasons for the slot limit, to try and get some control on them. I too have some of TubeDudes hotheads. They definitely catch fish. I have some he tied up and some that he made the hotheads and I tied some of my patterns on. They work well for multiple species too.

It's too bad that you can't access the upper portion of the reservoir to launch a tube/toon. The good thing is the wakeless speed only rule.[Smile]

[#0000FF]Good report and nice pics...especially the one with the rainbow...with that purty fly in its face.

Hey, if you're not too proud to use spinning gear you might wanna consider using a jig-fly combo. I use a bou-jig in tandem with one of those hot heat flies a lot. The jig gets it down and the fly flutters at whatever depth you want. I make both the jigs and the flies in about the same color patterns and I like to use different patterns for the jig and fly until I find the color du jour. Of course that can change from hour to hour.

Purty lake and purty fish...except for the chubs.
