hawkeye fish finder

Does anyone have any experience with the hawkeye portable fish finder? I am setting up an inflatable boat (intex excursion 5) and was wondering if it is a good finder for the basics. It's on sale right now for $66 at walmart.

I've owned two of them. I used the first one on a 'toon with passable results. Very basic depth info with large and small "fish" ID icons. I gave that one away.

I bought another one for ice fishing. It never worked at all and I returned it for a refund. From what I read online, they seem to have about a 50% failure rate, so getting one that works is a coin toss.
