I stand in awe

[#000050]A long, long time ago, my father bought me a large cane pole and some kite string to catch catfish down at the river. I believe it cost him 65 cents. I loved that pole.[/#000050]

[#000050]Yesterday, and some 70 years later, wiperhunter 2 and I went fishing with liketrolling at the Berry and was blown away by the experience.[/#000050]
[#000050]liketrolling has gained a knowledge about fishing for Kokanee second to none. What he doesn't know about it, his boat does and his boat also remembers everything.[/#000050]
[#000050]Did we catch fish? ..... Yes, but that's not important. With all the equipment and tackle that he has on board, what's a Salmon to do?[/#000050]
[#000050]From the kicker automatically changing speeds to the ball adjusting to the temperature of the water column, to the giant screens that tell you everything about fish habitat. It was totally unreal.[/#000050]
[#000050]Thanks for a remarkable experience. You made my day.[/#000050]

Sounds like a fun trip. All those toys take a lot of work to figure out how to use but they can sure help if the right person is operating them. Later J

[#000050]Well, Curt and I figured out that he was that right person right off the bat.[/#000050]
[#000050]Every time I haul out a Lowrance whatever, It is a re-training session. He uses this stuff every day and is a resident expert.[/#000050]
[#000050]He has more transducers on that boat, then the Donald has dollars.[/#000050]
[#000050]It was a great trip, ....... Thanks, liketrolling.[/#000050]

I couldn't agree more with WaveWolf, Robert is a class act that few can follow. When operating that equipment of his, he is second to none, he had me wondering what supper powers he had to learn it all in the year or so since he bought his boat and equipment. I will say that getting up at 2 am to meet Liketrolling at 4:45 in Heber was no fun at all but it was truly a great experience and well worth the lack of sleep.
Robert told us the day before he took out another BFT member and his 3 kids, then turned around the next day and took CarDell and I out, then today he went up to the Gorge to fish again. Wish I had thought to take some pic, I usually do but totally spaced it out yesterday, I'll blame it on lack of sleep[Wink]. Robert got us on the fish and in the end, CarDell and I took home our limits, mine should be coming out of the smoker in an hour or so. We also caught at least twice that many cutts but we were not counting them, so I'm not sure of the number there. Thanks so much for the fishing trip and the chance to learn some new tech gadgets Liketrolling.

Sounds like a great experience and tutorial. Always great to learn from a master. Thanks for sharing it with the rest of us. Now we have new questions to ask that we didn't know before. Later J

You are right, Robert has been talking about some of this tech for some time and I did not understand what he meant, now I understand and it has opened up new understandings about koke fishing that I did not know about before.

Wish I knew more about my systems capabilities.. I'm sure it knows how to do a lot of stuff I could benefit from if I knew what to do to use it... I'm still stuck on GPS and depth as the main things I learn from it.... a little bit of terrain features, but the temperature deal at depths is interesting, I usually just see where the fish are and drop my lines to that depth... Sure makes fishing a lot more productive... Later J

[#000050]My Dad died when I was 6 years old, so I made my pole out of a wood stick and kite string for a line and a safty pin for a hook, would put a worm on it. ( I did not have the money to buy a hook.)[/#000050]
[#000050]I don't think I got a fish with it. but I would keep trying I only had to walk about a mile to the river. To bad we did not have BFT and you tube back then. that is the way I have learned to fish.[/#000050]
