Been 2 weeks since I've been on that body of water that is only 20 miles from my home, and no matter how bad I do, I can't seem to stay away...........[:/]
Didn't get on the water till after 12 noon today. Figured it would be hot (temperature wise) and it was......water temp 85 at 1230 and 89 at 4:30.
Figured it would be buggy.....and surprisingly, only Dragon Flies....I don't mind them, and they are rather pretty too.
Figured the weekend before Independence Day the place would be pretty well packed with power squadron boats...it wasn't. Oh, they were out there, but not that many, and they all were quite well behaved today.
Figured I had probably missed and Wiper or Walleye bite, and it turns out....I had. But I did boat about 9 or 10 Cats. I released them all, and after the 5th one I stopped taking any photos cause they were getting progressively smaller each time. I think I was fishing in their "grammar school" [
]
Headed in about 4:45, and in the south channel and on both sides were signs saying "CHECK POINT AHEAD"
They were not there when I went out. Rounded the right turn, and I counted at least 6 DNR Rangers, and maybe 2 Box Elder County Sherriff Deputies. Pulled up to the dock next to the Ranger boat and 3 Rangers. One asked all the usual questions, looked at the 2 green slip safety inspections I had in my pouch with the other boat documents, checked my fish license, and wished me a good evening.
So, if it is anything like last 4th of July, the marinas are going to be packed next weekend and inspections will be in progress all weekend I bet. [fishin]
