With this heat I have been wanting to get up High in the mountains every chance I can. Yesterday I decided to hike up to a lake I haven't tried for years and was rewarded with big brookies every few cast. What a day!

Wow, they almost don't look real with that much color, almost look painted on, very impressive. It is rare to see them that size in Utah. I guess they must be spawning, with colors that bright. Were you fly fishing?

Wiper hunter.They spawn in the fall. I was not fly fishing I was using tube dudes wobble jigs.

I thought they were only brightly colored like that, when they were spawning, I guess you learn something new every day[shocked].

Looks like a fun trip, can't wait for my high country trip this summer... Too bad I only get a couple of those a year they are my favorite time of the year... Not often I find that nice of fish though, well done... later J

I am also jealous. Those are far better than the dinky planters my kids were pulling out of Trial Lake. better get the hiking boots on. Thanks for the amazing pics.
