Cleveland & Miller Flat in the wind
#1
I fished Cleveland Reservoir in my tube yesterday from 7:30 to 11:30 using fly tackle. I used a fast sinking line with size 6-8 bead head crystal buggers and soft hackles in black/green and tan/green/pearl. The water temp. was 63 degrees and the visibility in the water about 5'. The reservoir is 80% full and dropping slowly. I picked up all rainbows between 13" and 17" long. Got blown off so I decided to go down the road and check Miller Flat Reservoir and see if I could get out of the wind, wrong! I fished there from 12:30 until 2:30 using the same gear only with a bead head black/red crystal bugger and picked up all rainbows from 12" - 15" long. The reservoir is 84% full and going down. I finally had enough of the wind and packed up and headed home. There were a lot of folks still packing up and heading home from the holiday weekend. The back roads were very busy.[inline P1000930(1).JPG][inline P1000935(1).JPG][inline P1000931(1).JPG]

Thanks for the report. I am not a fan of the wind in a tube either. Too hard to maintain position.

Two of my favorite bodies of water to fish as a teenager. Haven't seen Miller Flat Reservoir in over 40 years.

I hadn't fished Miller Flat in awhile so it was nice to get out and fish it. I actually marked more large fish there than I did on Cleveland. They have maintained fairly good water levels the last few years so more fish have been able to carry over.
I need to go try Electric Lake and Gooseberry Reservoir. That's the nice thing about the Manti, so many options.[Smile]

Thanks for the report, I haven't fished Millers Flat yet but intend to this next month or so. In regards to Cleveland, I have caught some really nice fish out there on nymphs. Your report will help me know what to use in the future

Are you going to be fishing from shore or a watercraft?

There were a lot of small minnows along the shoreline and I think that is why the crystal buggers worked. There are some good fish in there and the odds of catching one of them goes up in the fall. BTW I marked more big fish at Miller Flat than I did at Cleveland but the ones I caught were smaller than the ones I got out of Cleveland.

I fish up there regularly so when you get ready to go let me know and maybe I can give you some new information.

Good luck when you go!
