Cisco dip netting question

[font "Comic Sans MS"][size 2]Question for all you cisco neters. What time of the day or night is the best time to dip net them little buggers from the beach? I have only snagged them out on the rock pile and have never done any dip netting for them. Do I need to get out there in the dark for best results? Or does it much matter?[/size][/font]

Best time is indeed first light in the morning. On Cisco Beach, when the sun starts shining on you and the water you're netting in, it's pretty much over for the day. Yes there will be a few stragglers that will come in close to shore after the sun hits the water, but it's pretty much over for the day by that time.

Busting an inch of ice before day break, standing in the frigid water waiting for the sun to come up, netting chunks of floating ice trying to get bait.

Sounds like fun. Cold, but fun.

I think I would bust me a big old hole, net all the ice out of it, and hope the little buggers like the location of my hole. I would hate to bust holes all day looking for fish under the ice.

Up until this year I would say that by 10am the dipping is just about over but today the best dipping for us was after ten. We saw one and two up until we left at 2pm. Good luck tomorrow. WH2

It is indeed usually best about an hour after day break. However, you snooze, you loose. Go up early and drink coffee until you start seeing larger schools.
