Hey Crew,
Posted about 2 weeks back stating i was doing this trip on this and Colorado's forum asking for some insight on what to use and well, you guys rocked on what to use.
We caught 3 Pike Minnows, which are endangered, using Rapala's black and gold, also perch colored. 2 were between 16-22 inches while the other, damn... was pushing 34". Landing a ~34" pike minnow while floating on a raft is not an easy task!!!! Very exciting for the Angler and the rest of our crew. Best part about it, while we're taking pics and unhooking the monster, a family of longhorn sheep were watching on the bank 15' away.
Also caught some large carp while messing around at various camp sites upwards of 20". Beautiful for the fish they are! Nice and golden!
Using some red devils i was able to catch about 15 or so brown trout at various spots as well.
Smallmouth bass were plentiful as well, being an invasive species in that stretch, it's our obligation to kill them once landed. We landed quite a bit and slayed a bunch as well.
If any of you get a chance to go out to Jones Hole, i'd recommend you do! There is a small creek that feeds into the Green, which is crystal clear, that has some amazing holes! You can literally watch the fish chase your fly, spinner or debate about your bait for as long as you want. You can sit and watch 8" fish follow your gear to upwards of some damn smart trout about 18-24" just watching fly right by their face.
All in all, some damn great fishing, rafting and good times!
I'll post some pics as soon as i get them from the rest of the group!
