CA Marlin.
#1
And the bite continues. Day started early leaveing long beach ca at 330 am in search of live mackeral to fill our tank with bait! Tuff bait fishing resulted in about 12 mackeral which we figured if we get the chance to give mackeral to one marlin let alone 12, days gonna be awesome! Off we went to the west to a bank called the 17 which is aprox 50 miles towards the channel islands. As we prepared to slow down and deploy the lures a free jumping marlin greeted us. We put the marlin lures in the water 5 with hooks and two teasers with no hooks to feed a live bat to the marlin trying to eat them. Trolled for about a hour more to the west were we found our own version of SeaWorld. Porpious seals bait birds and whales just no marlin bites. Our buddies on another boat had caught a fish in that zone so we stayed for a bit, We broke the rule we left fish to find fish so we ventured back to were we saw the jumper. As soon as we got withen a 1/2 mile of there a marlin came to the teaser and we fed it a bait. HOOKUP we made short work of that fish and released in under 30 min est weight 150 lbs. Put the lures back in and ten min went buy and two marlin swam to our jigs, now a trolling fish on a lure and tricked the other into eating a bait. Double. we fought the fish and the lure fish came off as they do quit a bit when jumping but proceeded to catch and release the bait fish. Wow no only 10 am 3 hours of fishing hooked three and landed two. By now the weather was takeing a turn for the worse but continued to deploy the lures once again. 5 min HOOKUP wow fish number four really tuned out to big a big bad fish and three of us took turns fighting the fish for over a hour! up came the fish and a sucessfull release despite the weather is flat out nasty now. Short celebration we turned the boat down swell towards home with a following sea which made us all happy and 5 min later NO not a fish 25 knots of wind and rain aproaching fast! We wound them in and called it A day. To our amazement here it is NOV 15 and catching marlin north of long beach WOWWWWWWW! Could not have asked for a better 4 hours of fishing as the sea once again was plentyful and we were gifted epic fishing. If you ever get a chance to catch a CA marlin hop on it as its just a way different thrill than mexico or hawaii! the weather man says wind for 24 hours and weather back to 80 degrees by the end of the week, Will keep chaseing these things till the last one leaves for the winter if they ever do!!

Nice Report Bobby. Good to see the Billy clubs are still in the area. I'm sure you were also happy having the tag team to get one of those bad boys in. 1 hour is a decent fight. They are moving farther north now.

We spotted some between San Nic and Santa Rosa area. I love to see the exotics this far north.

You know what we are looking forward to next year? Yes....Humboldt Squid. They usually follow the El Nino events.
