Late November Deer Creek Outing
#1
Decided to make an afternoon trip to Deer Creek yesterday. It was 36 F when we arrived at noon. Only a few other hardy boaters on the lake. Most reported a slow day of catching. No wind to speak of, so it was pleasant, ramp clear with one courtesy dock in the water still.

We trolled Rapalas and a dodger/spinner combo. Caught a nice 19" Brown right away on a Rapala. Not much else showing, so we moved down lake a bit and started picking up some fatty 18" Rainbows on Rapalas and the spinner/worm combo. Ended up with three for the smoker and released about 8. Left just as the sun was setting as it was getting cold fast. Great 4-hour trip and close to home.

The Quagga inspector was there tagging boats. I asked her if they had actually detected any Quagga larvae recently and she said no. There's no decontamination station, so it's just an honor system to wait the 18 days. We may make one more trip up if the snow doesn't get too bad.

Sounds like a great day, and thanks for the report! I think I will try to make it up there before things shut down for the winter.
