Starvation
#1
Hit up Starvation this morning. It was a cool -4 when we hit the ice. Fishing was decent, but not fast. Caught a handful of starvy steelies and a brown between 2 of us. Ice was 5-6 inches thick over by the bridge. Lots of ice songs today to keep you on your toes!

Thanks for your report. It's good to hear the ice thickness is building. The ice at the bridge area was 3.5" on Thursday. I guess you guys didn't find any perch?

Sounds like a fun day......any day fishing beats a day at work but any[cool] day catching beats everything!

While I didn't post a report, we hit Rabbit on the first of the year and also found about 6" of ice, but we didn't wander around a lot because we hit perch immediately and in about 3 hours 3 of us had about 70. About 1/2 were pretty small, but the other half were 8+" but no real 12" jumbos.

We also caught the occasional trout (6) that included one 20" that was robust. I had 3 trout break my 2lb line so anyone who catches those with my baits - you're welcome.

Most reports show folks fishing pretty deep, but we found them in 15'. I would guess the large perch are that deep, but we had lots of enjoyable action with enough to clean for a number of meals.

Great day for sure. Those starvation steelers can put up a good fight.
