Flaming Gorge questions
#1
Hey, I'm putting together a trip to the Gorge with my dad. We used to fish there every summer when I was a kid, but never on the ice. Hoping to kiss and release some big lakers. I've got all the gear; tent/snowmobile. Just need a few pointers about where to stay, and possibly where to fish.

We'll probably be going mid February. I'm hoping that's not too late in the season. Any help would be much appreciated.

Contact Flaming Gorge guide Ashley Bonser. He will teach you more in one day than you will learn in a year on your own.

Big Lakers. Have no idea. If I had an idea, I would not lead on.

Pups is a different story. Lost Dog 60-80 feet with tubes tipped with sucker/carp.

Even after you go with a guide and learn the tricks when you go again on your own itll be tough. Sometimes even when they are right in your face and looking at your stuff they still wont bite. If you get a big one youll get ruined and want to go all the time. Then youll have what they call the curse....lol. I would 2nd Bonser for a ice fishing guide just becauses Jim doesn't ice fish......

Another guide option is Clark Sabey. I don't think he loves ice fishing compared to boat fishing, but he knows what he is doing on Flaming Gorge. Tough task master, but if you listen you will learn
