Mankind has always done better with less government ???? Have you been to Somalia ?? The country has no formal government, you don't pay taxes...except to warlords, because there is no government. Everyone is impoverished and illiterate. Everyone carries guns. There are pirates.. Actual pirates. It is the worst country in the world because it has no government. Let's look at Denmark. A socialist democratic country. You pay up to 40% in income tax but you get free healthcare! free college, 8 weeks paid vacation even if you change jobs, 3 months leave for new moms, 1 month for new dads. A great retirement program, very low poverty rates, I could go on. It sounds pretty good to me. The people that live there are not obsessed with greed like we are. What is important to them is food, freinds and family. Think about it, those are the things in your life that ARE most valuable. The tax sounds high but think about your health care costs, saving for retirement, 2 crappy weeks of vacation , you spend 40% easily on that stuff. I know I do.
