Anyone have an updated report on Rockport Ice conditions? Taking my wife and daughter in law out this weekend and want to make sure they have a good experience.
Thanks in advance.

Rockport ice was at about 7-8 inches on the west side. No issues.

Yesterday the ice was 10 inches. There was a minimal amount of slush out towards the middle. The fishing was fairly slow, but the ice was good. Most of the fish I caught were between 5 and 9 feet below the ice. Good luck.

I am hitting the lake tomorrow. South end probably west side of the lake of it isn't too crowded. I just went to the lake earlier and the ice is in great shape. Talked to a few people on the ice. Report was power bait on a rat finki was okay. Sounds like it's still better to fish with a small jig.
Hoping my bait from last weekend is still alive :-).

The south end of the lake is the most active because it is the warmest water. South end is 35 degrees. North end is 33 degrees. Right now the thermocline looks to be at about 16' on the north end and 12' in the south end. So fish the south end because it is more warm in 10' of water with what ever the fish are attracted to right now and you should be successful.
Also there is a front coming in right now and my experience has shown that usually has fish biting more aggressively.
I have my alarm set for 6:30 and plan to have my hut up at 7.

One note. This behavior will last until the lake flips. The bottom at 80 in near the west mid lake shore is at 33 degrees. At some point the lake will flip much like a storm pushing out an inversion in the valley and those bathroom spots will be hot again.

You must live in Wanship to get up by 6:30 and be on the ice by 7. Wow, that is quick.

I was thinking the same thing. Nice living so close to a fishing hole.
