The last reports on Mantua that I read gave me the impressions that the edges were going and the ice was sagging. Any updated reports? I am looking at taking a person with some vertigo problems ice fishing and need easy access and safe ice.
Any catching reports? I was talking with a friend that indicated that he talked to someone that said Mantua was hot. I have not seen any reports on that. We are hoping to catch perch or blue gill. Any updates would be appreciated.

I'm hoping you can go and then give us some kind of report - hopefully a good report...mid thru late Dec. our group fished it 3 times, absolutely no panfish, and only a few trout taken for all our time and many holes drilled...if you go, GULUK and get back to us...

Every one I have talked to says mantua is dead. Go to Hyrum perch are bitting soft right off the bottom green rat fink tiped with wax worm. Trout are mid to uper water's 4-15 foot ish. I've fish mantua twice this year with no luck. I always catch fish at hyrum. If you want to have fun catching fish go to Scofield you will catch chubs all day long.

I'm heading to Hyrum this morning for a bit of perch jerking. I'll try to stop at Mantua on the way or the drive home to check on ice conditions and scan for anglers.

There has been atv's on the ice as recently as yesterday. Didn't get a chance to walk out but the edges look good. It was 10 degrees when I got to Mantua at 8:30 this morning. Appears slush could be an issue off the beaten path but there were about 40 people out around 10:00

There were still 15 or so people and huts in the SE corner when I drove by at 1 pm. None on the west side at all, which surprises me. So the ice appears to be fine now. I have yet to talk to anyone who has been catching anything but a cold there, however. That includes two guys who I spoke to at Hyrum who were at Mantua earlier today and got skunked.
