Just wanted to tell the folks who put together the tournament a big thank you. You folks did another excellent job again this year. For my group it was tuff going. My group caught 26 perch and three trout. It was a very slow day. Fishing was great for about the first hour and then died off. The wind sucked too. Glad the shack was anchored down or it would have blown away. No tagged fish for my group, but we had a great time fishing. They had many prizes left over. I heard the remaining prizes will be available throughout the rest of the year. You need to Register at lake side to qualify. Prizes will be awarded for tagged perch. I heard there was only 7 tagged perch turned in. So there should be plenty of chances to win. I hope everyone had a good time. I know my group did. Hope they do another tournament next year. Again, thanks too the many people who put this together.

It was a great time. Me and my brothers, father, and nephews caught a little over 250 perch, not a tag one, but it was a blast! My nephew landed a 7 lb splake while we were pulling out perch! He even released it to be caught again. Kudos to the DNR and Fish Lake , and SFW, and whoever else, on putting on a great show. I liked the idea of the use of radios, but you always get some that have to screw up a good thing. Other than the radio chatter it was great. And if I don't see another perch for at least a year, it will be too soon!

Sounds like you did as well as us, I also appreciate everyone who took the time to put that on. We were there Friday as well and did really well that day with twice the fish caught on friday, not so well the next day of the tournament. However we couldn't take the 7 hours of listening to the radio chatter that the Kids and immature Adults entertained us with through out the day. I'm glad I went and experienced it and I did get to catch my First Splake Friday. The Quad-fishalon was at Deer Creek also on Saturday and if that happens next year, I'll pick the Deer Creek tourney. this ved was on Friday

My wife and I also fished the tournament and had a blast!
THANK YOU to all those that helped put on the contest in such a beautiful place.
I would like to find the immature people messing around on the radios and shove their radios in their ice holes.

I was thinking maybe a different kind of hole that sounds kind of like "ice hole".
I caught 78 solo by Lakeside, in a dark tent, sight fishing in 11 FOW. Not a tag in the bunch.

We too were at lakeside, 14 ft of water. Start sight fishing but back s started hurting. Didn't even need to bait the hook. It was fun. We fished today but way deeper to avoid perch, and tried to hook into a few rod benders. Had to head to work or would have been forced to stay by possible road closure!

I'm going to start bringing a kneeling pad like the kind you get for gardening. Sightfishing is just way too productive, it's like cheating.

We had a good time also and I thought they did a great job with this tournament. We were up at Joe's Bush Friday and Saturday. Friday was a blast, caught plenty of fish, perch, macks, rainbows, couldn't keep them off our hooks. Lost track of how many we caught on Friday but it was a bunch.
Saturday started off really well and then died off after we caught the bulk of our fish. The wind came up and it became miserable, even in the tents, not sure why, I would have thought pre-frontal conditions, maybe too early for that. We only ended up catching around 90 on Saturday and I really didn't want to relocate the tent in the wind so we settled for awhile, took a pretty good nap after I turned the radio off, and then left.
We fished any where from 25' to 11'' some bigger ones around 9" but most were 5"-6". Night crawlers and perch eyes did the trick on Saturday, Friday we used night crawlers some of the time, other times we didn't use any bait. Couldn't really pick a lure or color, everything I put down the hole, they took on both days.
I had a great time, especially after I turned the radio off, way too much chatter. Just curious, if there was an emergency or somebody needed medical assistance, how could one have broken in with all that chatter going on? None of us had cell phone service on the lake. Maybe an idea for next year, have a designated channel for emergencies that everybody stays off and use only for an emergency and then another channel for tournament talk.....just wondering is all?

It sounds like they had 1,864 total participants and they estimated around 38,000 perch were harvested. Also, after only 10 of 1,300 tagged perch were caught, they were able to complete their first ever rough estimate of the perch population--4.5 MILLION! Like was already mentioned, those who are still interested can register for getting the remaining prizes at Lakeside...just turn in those tagged perch after you register!
I was able to help at Lakeside...I couldn't believe the number of tents and fishermen; most I have ever seen! Other than the wind and weather, it seemed liked most people were enjoying their day!

The tournament was excellent except for the radio use by some, which was expected most likely and will be one of those trial and error things I am sure Mike will work out for next year. Maybe just hourly updates and scheduled tune in times for the other contests and just post the drawing winners at the check-in so the radios don't have to be on all the time and put up with the inconsiderate people. Our group included lipripr, beerbatter, my dad, nephews and me.. My dad and I were set up about 10 ft. away from my brothers and nephews in 6 ft of water.. We did not sight fish, and we killed the perch, if u weren't jigging, they weren't hitting and they seemed to be down in the weeds in the afternoon.. I am glad they didn't do the first to 100 fish, because people were catching and keeping the night before and before the tournament started.. But if there was an honest 1 person to get 100 perch, our dad would've one.. He easily caught 100 plus on his own and I can bare witness to that..I think some people that didn't have much success with the perch were to deep for them.. And the splake my nephew caught that lipripr posted, was a stud and took a lot for him to put back in the lake and deserves the utmost respect for a youngster to do so.. An awesome fish for his first time to fish lake and his brother did awesome in the perch tournament as well.. That is the best part about fish lake, u don't know what u got until it is at the surface!! Great time with the family, looking forward to next year.. Thanks to everybody who put it on and thanks to the fish lake lodge guy who came by yesterday to tell us they were going to stop plowing!!
