Hit the Berry yesterday. We took some sleds and headed back for the Renegade area. Fishing was slow, but consistant. The fish were very very picky. We were fishing in 22 feet of water. We had a lot of fish come up to our bait, look for a few seconds, then swim away. Very light on the bite as well. We caught fish on a variety of lures and bait. Most fish were on the bottom. Nothing seemed to work any better than another. There were 5 of us on the ice, and we landed 22 fish. We brought home 3 bows. All the cutts were in the slot and promptly released to fight again another day.
We did run into Doug Miller at the marina. His group was fishing in the Narrows, and in the Bryants fork area (not sure where that is), and they did about the same as us. One of the marina employees was back by Renegade as well, they were only fishing in 6 feet of water, they wanted a try at a big bow. They had one at the marina they cought a couple of days ago that was easily 6 pounds! It was a monster.
The sun was shining, and the wind never blew, a truly great day to be out fishing.
On a side note, you could get a 4 wheeler any where you wanted to. The slush has frozen, and there is only about 4-6 inches of snow on the ice. Just be careful and don't drive too fast. There are places where the slush used to be, that was driven on, and now has frozen into nice little jumps! Threw one of my buddys off the sled! No harm no foul though.
