Willard is still mostly ice covered tonight 2-22-16, but it's looking really weak, won't be too long now. Later J

There are people fishing the open water by the inlet at Deer Creek but the rest of the lake is still locked up with ice.

Went to Vernon. Road is muddy. Lake still froze. Went to Grantsville. Quite a bit of open water. Plus a few brave souls ice fishing. Caught one planter on a worm. Another few days and it will be open.

Last Friday afternoon as I drove past, Deer Creek had a wide section of open water about 20 yds wide from just north of the island completely across to the railroad tracks. It was shore to shore open. All the ice on the reservoir had that dark appearance as a lake is de icing. My thought was, "I would not go on that ice!"

Willard opened up into the main body of the lake today. Couple hundred yards each way along the beaches, not out very far from the edge. Not great for fishing yet, but probably won't take too long now. Later J
