What a weird day!!!
Hit the berry this morning. Got to the marina at about 7ish. Temp was 9 degrees. Fished south of the Marina store in about 37' water and kept the jig at about 20'-25' Caught 3 Cuts, 2 were 18 1/2" and 1 was 17". Lots of ice, I would say about 10" of clear and 8" of cloudy ice on top. Used white whatta crickets with glow in the dark 1/16 oz. jig heads tipped with mealies and nighties. Temp warmed up to 28 degrees by the time I left at 1:00. As I was leaving, just north of the Mud Creek turn off. I was flagged down by a couple guys in a stopped car. A snowmobiler had wrecked and was laying motionless in the snow. My cell phone signal was lacking so I hauled ass to the visitors center and asked the rangers called 911 which they did without hesitation. I didnt go back because I didnt want to add more congestion to the scene. I know 3 park rangers were responding so I didnt think me being there would have done a lot to help. Then Bambi decides to bounce out in front of me on I-80 just before the rockport turn off making me test the ABS on the Excursion. It was close but bambi was successful at crossing the road without incident. I think I will go back to the berry next weekend and try the chicken creek area.

[cool]Teroy, glad to hear you could help someone in need and that you didn't get any damage to your excursion. I went to Chicken Creek East and got there about 7:30. I guess I had slightly better luck than you, but it was still a little slow, but WAY BETTER than being at work.
About 15 minutes after dropping a white whatta cricket in the hole I brought in a 20 inch Cut. Since it was my first of the day, I thought I'd get some bigger than that, so I didn't get a picture of it-DAMN! Anyway, I ended up with 6 fish total for the day landed, and all of them were between 15-20 inches. I had 3 others up to the icehole and then they spit it. Two of them would have been in the lower 20's in inches. I caught most of them on Chartreuse Foxy's tipped with a waxie. Tried crawlers for an hour but no luck. Nobody else around me seemed to be doing any better than me. I really had to work hard for them. Used anchovie smelly jelly a lot, and I think that was the difference. Can't wait to get up there again!![pirate]

You da man, Teroy! I am, and others are, glad you got involved. Way to think quickly and rationally. Sometimes fishing takes a backseat to problems that arise. Say an extra prayer tonight and buckle up a little tighter tomorrow![angelic]

I had a lot less eventful day myself,Teroy. My son and I got there about 7:00 and headed north east of the marina store. We went out past all the other people and just 100 feet from shore. We fished there until about 10:30 with nothing pulled out of the hole. Thinkfish radioed us that he was south west of us on the other side of the ramp so we joined him. He was having a lot better day over there. My son caught our only fish after we moved to that location, a nice 20" cut. After that fishing slowed down all around us except for Thinkfish who continued to pull them out all day long. Just wasn't my day today I guess. The good news was that I was there doing what I love. You must of walked right by me Renegade. I was a little south east from the marina store about 50-75 yards from shore. Was too cold to wear my BFT hat, I really need to get one of those BFT beanies.[ ]

Ouch Jen! While I've never hit a deer yet (knock on wood) I have had a deer hit me twice!
Once while on my dirt bike I pulled thru a switchback and had a few deer running along side me, the trail was very narrow so there was no place to go so a big doe went thru me! Yup she planted her chest into my shoulder and I hit the deck, but was able to walk away from that.
The second time I was heading over Trappers Loop and saw a buck approaching to cross the road ahead of me I slowed down to let him pass in front of me and he must have spooked because he turned right towards me and ran smack into the side of my jeep! Well I thought I killed him! Jumped out of the jeep ran over to check him out when he jump up and runs across the road leaaving me standing in the middle of Trappers with cars whizing by on either side of me.
I sure laughed my butt off after that!

I don't want to give away too many of Jenn's secrets, but she's the only person I know who's hit a house. Darn thing just ran out in front of her.

Okay so I hit a house, however in my defense, there was black ice, I was on a hill, and the house DID jump out in front of me. Mateo is just jealous that he doesn't have my unbelievably talented driving abilities. Damn husbands anyways. I guess that was revenge for the pictures[cool].
He'll pay, no worries.

I know about things jumping out and hitting you, it always happens to me! The corner of the house hits me as I walk by, the chair or the step that I just can't put my foot past or on, the toys that were not in the way when I walk across the room magically appear when I cross it, dogs run under my feet to get stepped on, snow covered ice holes appear to get stepped in, yup I know all about those things , happens all the time. and my wife has lots of fun at my expense over it all.
