Willard 4/3/16
#1
Only child and I hit Willard on Sunday to try our luck on some early post spawn walleye. The walleye were pretty slow as we only caught two and missed two. Talked to some other guys that had done a little better on eyes but not great either. Then we went to the not so secret spot and caught about a dozen wipers on the not so secret bait. Man that would be a fun bite to to get a bunch of kids on. The walleye were caught bottom bouncing at . 7mph with Smile blades and kokanee Creek tackle killer bees. Should be picking up as more fish are done being in love.... [fishon]

Thanks for the report Mike, good to see you're out after them again... I see a bunch of boats out there yesterday so it looks like you had some company... I expected more reports today, but may not have been the best day... Seeing you with only two eyes, it must have been slow, but it sounds like the wipers are hungry, I'll have to try that not so secret bait and spot before they move on..... Not only kids that like to catch those guys... This kid likes it too... Thanks for the report... Later J

Thanks for the update Mike, I noticed quite a few boats going and coming from Willard yesterday and was wondering how it was going out there. Can you or anyone else tell me what the water temp was yesterday and how was the water clarity? I'm looking forward to getting out myself but just have to much going on right now, at least you got out on an awesome day.

Surface temp was between 48 and 52. Water clarity was about medium for Willard.

I'm not in the cool crowd as I didn't know about the secret spot or bait. We trolled the north dike to the light pole and caught one wiper. We then motored over to the feed lot and drifted and managed one catfish. Water temp started at 53, the light pole it was 51 and the feedlot was 57.

Mike, glad to hear you got the old guy out, and catching fish is even better. It's
been awhile since he's been out, he was starting to get a little grouchy.

No cool crowd about it, it's just a friend told me about this bite and out of respect for him I didn't post it. I am more than willing to discuss fish I have found on my own and the techniques I used. [fishon]

Art-
Did you get your new poles in to try out up there? Those kokes at the Gorge will be a better test for them. Let me know when they come in!
