strawberry report. its a good one
#1
got to the hole around 7 am. started at 15 ft deep and did not get a thing. than i moved in to 10 ft deep and immediately started catching them. i caught 4 right of the bat with a paddle bug and foxee tipped with mealies. fishing slowed in the shallows than i moved out to 24 ft of water. i caught 10 more cuts out at that deepth. i have figured out the best jiggin pattern and the right jig and bait. i had 3 other cuts on that i got up to the hole, but dad says those dont count, you have to take the hook out yourselfs. i had three others that spit the hook on the way up. i got into a mess of big fish. my biggest was a beautiful 23 inch 5 and 1/2 pound cutthroat. i had another cut that went 23 inches but only weighed 4 pounds. i caught two others that were exactly 22 inches. i also caught the smallest fish of the year for me, 16 inch cut. all the rest were from 19 inch to 20 inches. all and all a successful day. my dad was also with me he caught 5 cut and my friend caught 4 cuts and a thick rainbow. all the fish are still swimming. i got a couple pics of the big ones, but it was with a non digital camera. sorry..

Nice report. Sound like you really got stuck into them. You must have quite the top secret fishing hole[Wink]. From the reports most people are not catching nearly as many fish. Way to show us how it is supposed to be done. Would love to see some pics when you get them developed and scanned.

[Smile]That sounds like a great day on the ice. Please tell us the perfect jig, bait and jigging pattern. Sharing is what we are all about. That's why I like this site. Last time I went white paddle bugs with meal worms were working. That is what I had on when a monster dragged my rig down the ice hole. SAD!!! Oh well. We were jigging very slow or not at all. Now, if you can, tell us how we can improve.
