LINCOLN 4-24
#1
Launched at about 10, lots of trailers, must have been a carp shoot, seen a lot of boats with decks on the front. run out to the island, went in close, a lot of cats in the 22 to 24, couldn't find anything big.

** CAUTION if you are in close to the island, when you cast make sure you have a clear path for you bait to fly, if you do lasso a one be prepared, the others will try to help the one you caught as you reel it in to cut it out of your line, the one you caught is not happy, the others are not afraid to bomb you, after it is released it calm down pretty fast so you can clean your boat**

Hit in front of the orchards about 1 to have lunch didn't dare get food out at the island(see above), a lot of white bass on the little ridges in about 2 ft water, few cats,

The water level has dropped about an inch since the first of the month. according to the marks on the dock pole. hope all this rain gets it coming up soon.

Nothing big enough to bump the top score a little higher? At least you found some. They shut me down Friday and I didn't make it out again after that. I'm sure hoping for a good weather day to line up with one of my available days. Glad you got some and I assume you were warning about sea gulls. They can be a pain. Later J

Looking for that 36er before BLK find him, looks like it might be a while before a good day comes around, and yes they can be a pain especially when they bite you.

Gee... sorry to hear about your pinched fingers.[sly] I've tangled with a few of those gulls before but never have had to reel one in. I think they are a bit sensitive about boats and fishermen being around their nesting areas this time of the year.

I hear ya about all the cats being the same size so far. Only exception being one 30 incher some guy caught while fishing for walleyes.[Wink] Best I have been able to do is 26 inches. I think the big boys are skulking around in deeper water waiting for the water temps to climb into the mid-60s. Then they will come in to the shallows among the rocks and reeds to stake out their love nests. Soon.

It does not look like the weather will cooperate for the rest of this week. First week in May should bring on the warmer water temps. I guess we should be glad we are getting more water... let it rain.

Yesterday was the first time I put bait out for cats, couldn't find the big one in that deep hole[Wink] but there was a lot of them, kept the wife busy, it was a tangle for sure and he was down rite mad and the rest of them to, water temp was 59 when we left.

Any trouble getting in to the hole? So many rocks there not sure if I would dare try. That 36 incher we are looking for will probably find his way in there soon.

Ouch, that's no good... Fish are supposed to bite, not birds... I'm glad the sea gulls aren't that thick where I'm fishing... When I went out of San Diego fishing in the ocean the terns or gulls would dive after our bait as we would drop it over the edge to fish, fairly often they would get it before you could get it down to the fish... If you did get it down and get a fish on, then the seals would steal the fish before you could get in on the boat... It was quite a trip... Well hope you were able to retain all your fingers... Later J

Made it right in, its over 5 ft in the narrow channel getting into the hole. I hang my anchor off the side to find the high spots before the bottom of the boat does. I wont do it unless the wind is right.
