Strawberry Evening 4/29
#1
I made an impromptu trip to Strawberry this evening. First I drove to the Strawberry Bay marina. I didn't see any ice, but there were also no docks and it was kind of windy so I continued around to the Renegade launch. No ice and no docks there either. I got onto the water about 6:30.

I saw lots of fish on the finder out in 30FOW suspended around 20'. It was windy enough to make still fishing/jigging difficult, so I tried trolling across them. I tried all different speeds and lures, and caught one 17" rainbow on a small rainbow rapala.

Later the wind calmed down and I tried casting and jigging several tubes and spoons tipped with nightcrawler. I only ever got one 19" cutthroat to hit on a 3.5" green tube.

It's been slow fishing so far this year, but it was still nice to be out there.

Too bad the catching was so slow, still nice to get out. Did you see any wildlife?

I've seen deer herds (10-15 individuals) both times I've driven around to Renegade this year, and a few birds out on the water. But nothing terribly exciting.
