downrigger repair/sale?
#1
Hey- Anyone know of a shop that will have a look at my Cannon mini-mag electric downriggers or have a couple to sell? I damaged mine fishing in the wind up at Starvation trying to learn how to use them I am embarrassed to say.

Did you kill the circuit, or crack the housing where the boom connects. Needless to say you aren't the only one who has snagged the ball on a windy day and damaged their downrigger. Give us details and/or pictures and we will likely have an answer.

Great to hear back from you!. The one down rigger will now only work in one direction, down I believe and the other does not let out or bring in but there was no burning smell or visible damage to the housing etc.. Both were damaged trying to pull out of a snag on Starvation where the depth went from 85 ft to 10 ft in about 3 seconds it seemed. I guess I should have cut my losses by cutting the cable. Live and learn I guess.

I had the similar symptoms on a cannon Mag 10 that I snagged up. Had to let out manually, but would come up with the power. After a while it would not work in either direction. I had to change out the electronic board. Got one on ebay for about $65. Changed it out myself and it works great today. I researched online for the correct part number, but saved me buying a new one. Good luck.

I snagged both of them at Starvation. In trying to get them unsnagged one of them stopped being able to take line in, only out. The other one just stopped, making no sound or smell of a burned up motor. If you think you can help me get them up and running. I will be more than reasonable in paying to have you do it
