Tibble fork
#1
Went there today5/2. I've been hearing they are draining it but looked the same as ever to me. Plenty of water. There were a lot of 10-12" browns feeding along the south side. Caught a few on gulp minnows. I needed smaller size, only had 3". Saw no rainbows. Assume they are done stocking those. Saw no bigger fish but they have to be there. Maybe at night.

Looks like it:

From the fishing guidebook page on wildlife.utah.gov:

Quote:Tibble Fork Reservoir: The daily bag and possession limit has been increased to eight (8) fish. This change is effective immediately and will remain in effect through June 30, 2016. Tibble Fork Reservoir will be drained beginning as early as April 1, 2016 to make repairs to the outlet works, upgrade Tibble Fork Dam to meet dam safety and seismic standards, and increase water storage. Limits are being temporarily liberalized to allow anglers to harvest fish that would otherwise be lost.

You think Government employees would work in the cold. They do not even work in the warm.[bobWink]

They worked on rebuilding Silver Lake dam and spillway last summer and fall which is above Tibble Fork. The heavy truck traffic was tremendous. Dozens of loaded ten wheelers per hour coming into the canyon headed for Silver Lake on the narrow road. It would have impacted the total canyon and public even more if they had been doing both dam projects at the same time. Tibble Fork Res. needed to be there, as it was intended when they originally built Silver Lake, to catch the silt so it didn't impact the American Fork River all the way to the valley.

Tibble Fork has been a settling basin since it was built. It is nearly full of silt instead of water. Silver Lake dam and spillway are nearing completion. They can go ahead and drain Tibble Fork and raise the dam fifteen feet to store more water. In the long run Silver Lake and Tibble Fork will be bigger and hold more water. Fishing will be much better with fish having a chance to grow bigger. I remember seeing fish 2 and 3 pounds coming out of Tibble instead of 8-10 in. like now.
